Lucien Frauenfelder
Born in 1938 in Switzerland and having started
his training at age 17 as a cook and gaining
experience in both Restaurant and five star
hotels in Switzerland he came to Canada in
1960 as cook in the famous Chateau Frontenac
in Quebec city, moving to Montreal soon after
and gaining Canadian experience in every type
of food operation, from Snack Bar to airline
catering and finally moving to BC in 1978.
He was executive Chef at the Cannery in Vancouver
and did some time in other Hotels. He was president
of the BC Chefs association for several years
and achieved Chef of the Year Status in .1983.
He is one of the first Certified Chef de Cuisine
in Canada. .
His love for good food led him to Vancouver
Island in 2001 and he opened Bistro Suisse
in November 2005 with his partner Kim Perdigao.
His belief in serving good food at reasonable
prices makes Bistro Suisse the success it is
today. At 69 years of age he is still cooking
and making sure the quality remains at the
highest level
